At the scheduled time, we’ll be waiting for you right at the cruise terminal in the port of Akureyri. After welcoming you, we’ll hop into a vehicle and head out to see the most dramatic volcanic landscapes in northern Iceland. Let’s go!
Our first stop will be Godafoss, a stunning horseshoe-shaped waterfall steeped in history. There, we’ll walk along its trails to get the best panoramic views of its turquoise waters.
We’ll continue on to Ásbyrgi Canyon, a geological wonder where 100 m (328 ft) high cliffs encircle an inland forest. Did you know that, according to legend, this place was formed by the hoofprint of Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse of the god Odin? We’ll tell you all the details!
We’ll arrive at the highlight of the day: Dettifoss. We’ll feel the roar of Europe’s most powerful waterfall. We promise that watching 193 cubic m (6,816 cubic ft) of water per second plunge down the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon is an experience that will leave you speechless.
We’ll stop in the charming fishing village of Húsavík, world-famous as the “Whale Capital.” We’ll stroll through its picturesque harbor before continuing on to the cliffs of Tjörnes, where we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and, with any luck in the summer, spot nesting seabirds.
Next, we’ll step into another world as we visit the Námaskarð (Hverir) geothermal area. We’ll walk among pools of boiling mud and steam vents surrounded by minerals in impossible colors.
Finally, we’ll drive around Lake Mývatn, stopping at a scenic overlook to admire its lava formations and volcanic craters. Photo op!
After an 8-hour tour, we’ll take you back to the port of Akureyri, ensuring you arrive with plenty of time to spare before your cruise ship sets sail.
